These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding legal agreement between you and CareerLumi ("we", "us", or "our"), a career coaching platform operating under the trading name CareerLumi, based in England, UK. They govern your use of our website, platform, and all related services (collectively, the "Services").

By accessing or using CareerLumi, you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, you do not have the right to use our Services.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Any changes take effect as soon as the updated version is published on this page. Your continued use of the Services after changes are published constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

1. About CareerLumi

CareerLumi is a community-driven coaching platform that connects global professionals with culturally aware career coaches. We provide the infrastructure, matching, payment processing, and tools that facilitate coaching relationships - but we do not deliver coaching services ourselves. All coaching is provided by independent coaches who operate on our platform in their own capacity.

2. Eligibility

To use CareerLumi you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Be legally permitted to access and use online services in your jurisdiction
• Provide accurate, truthful information when registering or completing a profile

If you are registering as a coach, you additionally confirm that you hold any qualifications, certifications, or professional registrations relevant to the coaching services you intend to offer, and that you are legally permitted to provide those services in your jurisdiction. Coaches are required to complete identity verification through Stripe Identity before being approved to accept bookings. This involves submitting a government-issued identity document for verification. By applying as a coach, you consent to this process and agree to be bound by Stripe's Terms of Service in connection with identity verification and payment processing.

3. Account Registration and Security

To access certain features of the platform, you will need to create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information at registration and keep it up to date
• Keep your login credentials confidential and not share them with anyone else
• Maintain only one account per person
• Notify us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect any unauthorised access to your account

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. If we terminate your account, you must not create a new one without our written permission.

4. Our Services

CareerLumi provides a platform that enables:

• Members to discover, match with, and book sessions with career coaches
• Coaches to manage their availability, sessions, and earnings
• Secure in-platform communication, booking management, and automated payment processing
• Access to digital products such as CV templates and career guides
• AI-powered tools including session summary generation

We are a platform and technology provider, not a coaching, recruitment, or employment agency. Any career guidance, advice, or services you receive through the platform are provided by independent coaches, not by CareerLumi.

5. Coaches as Independent Contractors

Coaches on CareerLumi are independent contractors, not employees, agents, or representatives of CareerLumi. CareerLumi does not direct or control how coaches deliver their services, what advice they give, or how they conduct themselves during sessions.

While we vet all coaches before they join our platform, we do not warrant or guarantee the quality, accuracy, suitability, or outcomes of any coaching session. Coaches are solely responsible for the services they provide and for complying with any professional, regulatory, or legal obligations applicable to them.

If you have a dispute with a coach arising from a coaching session, you should first attempt to resolve it directly with that coach. CareerLumi may assist in mediation at our discretion but is not obligated to do so and is not liable for the outcome.

6. Session Booking

When a member books a coaching session through CareerLumi, they enter into a direct service agreement with the relevant coach. CareerLumi facilitates the booking and payment process but is not a party to that agreement.

By confirming a booking, both members and coaches agree to attend at the scheduled time, engage in good faith, and comply with the CareerLumi community standards.

7. Cancellation and No-Show Policy

We understand that plans change. Our cancellation policy is designed to be fair to both members and coaches:

• Free cancellation - sessions may be cancelled without charge up to 48 hours before the scheduled start time
• Late cancellation or no-show - cancellations made within 48 hours of the session, or failure to attend without prior notice, will result in forfeiture of the session payment. The coach will be compensated for their reserved time.

Coaches are expected to provide reasonable notice if they are unable to attend a scheduled session. Repeated last-minute cancellations by a coach may result in removal from the platform.

8. Payments and Escrow

All coaching session payments are processed in British Pounds (GBP). Payment processing and escrow are handled entirely by Stripe:

• Member payment is collected at the time of booking and held in escrow by Stripe on CareerLumi's behalf
• Funds are released to the coach following successful session completion
• In the event of a dispute, funds may be held by Stripe pending resolution in accordance with these Terms

Payment processing and escrow are subject to Stripe's Terms of Service . By using the platform, you agree to be bound by Stripe's terms where applicable. CareerLumi does not store your full payment card details.

Coaches must also complete identity verification through Stripe Identity as a condition of receiving payouts. This is a Stripe-managed process and is subject to Stripe's own terms and privacy policy.

All fees and session prices are set by individual coaches. CareerLumi displays these prices transparently before booking is confirmed.

9. Digital Products

CareerLumi sells digital products (such as CV templates, cover letter guides, and career resources) through our Shopify store. By purchasing a digital product, you agree that:

• No refunds - digital products are non-refundable once downloaded or accessed, in accordance with applicable UK consumer law for digital content
• Personal use only - you are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the product for your own career purposes. You may not resell, redistribute, or reproduce the content without our written permission
• Purchases are processed by Shopify in accordance with their Terms of Service

10. AI-Powered Features and Session Summaries

CareerLumi uses AI tools to generate session summaries and support the coaching experience. With respect to AI-generated session content:

• Session summaries are owned by CareerLumi. Both the coach and member are granted access to the summary relevant to their session.
• CareerLumi may use anonymised, aggregated session data to improve our platform, AI models, and coaching tools. This data will not identify you personally.
• AI-generated summaries are provided as a convenience tool. They may not fully capture the nuance of a session and should not be relied upon as a substitute for your own notes or recollection.
• You may opt out of AI-generated session summaries by contacting us at [email protected].

11. Your Content

You may be able to submit content to the platform including profile information, session reviews, messages, and documents ("Your Content"). By submitting content, you grant CareerLumi a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, store, display, and moderate that content for the purpose of operating our platform.

Reviews must be based on your genuine, first-hand experience. You must not post reviews that are false, misleading, defamatory, or in violation of these Terms. CareerLumi reserves the right to moderate, edit, or remove any content at our discretion.

Reviews may be visible to other users of the platform. By submitting a review, you consent to it being displayed publicly.

12. Acceptable Use

When using CareerLumi, you agree not to:

• Use the platform in any unlawful manner or for any unlawful purpose
• Submit or transmit viruses, malware, or other harmful code
• Post content that is offensive, threatening, harassing, defamatory, discriminatory, or pornographic
• Infringe the intellectual property or privacy rights of any person
• Impersonate any person or misrepresent your qualifications or identity
• Solicit another user's login credentials or attempt to access their account
• Use the platform to poach clients or coaches outside of CareerLumi
• Send spam or unsolicited commercial communications
• Scrape, copy, or otherwise extract data from the platform without our written permission
• Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the platform or its infrastructure

13. Intellectual Property

CareerLumi owns all intellectual property rights in the platform, including its software, design, brand, frameworks, tools, and content created by us. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the platform in accordance with these Terms.

Nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual property rights to you. You may not reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the platform without our prior written consent.

The CareerLumi name, logo, and any associated marks are our trademarks. You may not use them without our written permission.

14. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The CareerLumi platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties including those of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

• The platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from viruses
• Any coaching session will produce a particular outcome for your career or professional development
• Any information provided by coaches is accurate, complete, or suitable for your situation

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CareerLumi's total liability to you in connection with these Terms or your use of the platform shall not exceed the greater of the total fees you paid to CareerLumi in the 12 months preceding the claim, or £100.

We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive losses, including loss of earnings, opportunity, data, or reputation, whether or not we were advised of the possibility of such losses.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable UK law.

15. Suspension and Termination

CareerLumi reserves the right to suspend or permanently terminate your access to the platform at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have:

• Violated these Terms or any applicable law
• Engaged in conduct that is harmful, abusive, or disruptive to other users
• Provided false or misleading information
• Repeatedly cancelled sessions without reasonable cause

You may close your account at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. Upon closure, your access to the platform will be removed, though we may retain certain data as required by law or legitimate business purposes as described in our Privacy Policy.

Any outstanding payment obligations, including session fees already committed, remain enforceable after account closure.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of the platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Nothing in this clause affects your statutory rights as a consumer under applicable UK law.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to our services, business practices, or applicable law. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of material changes. Continued use of the platform after changes are published constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
